Alicia Lin is currently pursuing a dual B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Product Design and Innovation from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She has recently won the Change the World Competitions both in the Fall of 2007 and Spring of 2008 for her efforts in designing an extremely affordable and practical product that uses solar water purification to pasteurize enough water for a family of six, and creating an antibiotic bandage made of honey (a natural antiseptic), rice, and wax paper, for use in parts of the world where individuals either cannot afford or do not have access to proper bandages. These bandages represent an effective method for a natural and safe way to treat wounds at any economic level.
