Engineering Intern

Ecovative Design is seeking talented Engineers to join our growing team of driven innovators paving the way in sustainable bio-material technology. Our project focus is on revolutionary advances in new technologies and solutions. Candidates with a passion for invention, design, fabrication, and a sustainable planet will thrive in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating solutions involving materials conveyance, pneumatics, power transmission, and electrical wiring
  • Work on highly collaborative project teams in a results-oriented, research and development environment

Minimum

  • Background in mechanical and/or electrical engineering
  • Minimum two years of college completed
  • Experience with fabrication techniques (dimensioning, cutting, assembly)
  • Experience with CAD (preferably Solidworks)
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly and learn new job functions
  • Able to commit to at least 10 hours a week
  • Driver license with clean driving record

Preferred

  • Automation and machine design experience
  • Experience with basic hand and power tools, drill press, large sander Bandsaw, and larger standup wood and metalworking tools, layout marking and measurement skills
  • Competency with simple electronics and circuits - soldering and electrical connecting
  • Own vehicle/reliable method of transportation

Laboratory Research Intern

Participate in the execution of cell and molecular biology experiments. Work in a fast-paced environment with an emphasis on quality controls, safety, and cleanliness. Responsibilities include conducting and designing experiments, monitor experimental parts and document observations. Perform quality control procedures and prepare equipment for post processing procedures. Interns will attend Research & Development meetings and be encouraged to bring ideas, concerns, and observations to the discussion.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Ability to perform physical labor (packaging, lifting, etc.)
  • Ability to work on teams as well as independently
  • Willingness to adapt to new processes, procedures, or work requirements
  • Must be punctual; must have reliable transportation to ensure timeliness

High School Lab Ressearch Intern

Intern will support Ecovative team members in the growth and development of sustainable mushroom insulation and an entirely mycelium-based biopolymer. They will participate in the execution of cell and molecular biology experiments. The intern will expected to work in a fast-paced environment with an emphasis on quality controls, safety, and cleanliness. Responsibilities include: material preparation and handling to support experiments, monitoring of experimental parts and documentation of observations. They will perform quality control procedures and prepare equipment for post processing procedures. The intern will attend weekly meetings with their supervisor(s) and are encouraged to bring ideas, concerns, and observations to the discussion.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Ability to perform physical labor (packaging, lifting, etc.)
  • Ability to work on teams as well as independently
  • Willingness to adapt to new processes, procedures, or work requirements

Technicians will attend Research & Development meetings and be encouraged to bring ideas, concerns, and observations to the discussion.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Two years college education in biology, environmental science or related field
  • Ability to perform physical labor (packaging, lifting, etc.)
  • Ability to work on teams as well as independently
  • Willingness to adapt to new processes, procedures, or work requirements
  • Proficient in record-keeping; strong documentation skills
  • Must be punctual; must have reliable transportation to ensure timeliness

The Myceliation Lead Operator is responsible for operation of the Myceliation mechanical system and supervision of Myceliation operators.

Minimum Qualifications and Competencies

  • Basic equipment troubleshooting, ability to use hand tools
  • Technological aptitude, Computer competency and proficient in MS Office
  • Prior supervisory experience and demonstrated ability to lead a group with confidence and efficiency
  • Operator/Technician experience in a fast-paced manufacturing with an emphasis on quality controls, safety, and cleanliness
