  Eben Bayer received a dual B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Product Design and Innovation from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in May of 2007. Before founding Ecovative, Eben worked at Applied Research Associates. During his time with ARA, Eben designed components of multiple remotely operated vehicles, including the armor for a US Marine humanitarian de-mining vehicle, and the production molds for a small reconnaissance drone.

Gavin McIntyre received a dual B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Product Design and Innovation from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in May of 2007. Before founding Ecovative, Gavin worked for the Department of Energy at Brookhaven National Laboratory. At Brookhaven, Gavin worked on a variety of projects, including the design and analysis of electrostatic devices for high-energy physics experiments, and structural and thermal diagnostics of equipment to ensure experiment quality and accuracy.

Burt

 

Edward Browka spent 4 years in the medical device field where he developed a radical new insulin infusion product that was significantly more affordable and functional then the current state of the art. More recently Edward has worked with with small stage companies setting up manufacturing systems in China. In June Edward graduated from Stanford's Design School. He will be joining Ecovative Design in August to develop consumer products and associated manufacturing systems.

Burt Swersey

 

Sue Van Hook is a mycological consultant to Ecovative Design.  She studied fungi in Northern California at Humboldt State University with Dr. David L. Largent, receiving her BA degrees in Botany and French and MA in Biology focusing on macrofungi.    She worked in land conservation and stewardship for The Nature Conservancy and Maine Coast Heritage Trust prior to joining the faculty in 1992 at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY.  She is interested in growing and using fungi for food, healing, ecological restoration, and "green" mycoproducts.

Burt Swersey

 
Burt Swersey is chief advisor to Ecovative Design, LLC. A serial entrepreneur, Burt was the founder of American Scale Corporation. He is currently a teacher of innovation and entrepreneurship at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
