Our Mission       History       BOA      Our Team

Alicia Lin

Alicia Lin is currently pursuing a dual B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Product Design and Innovation from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She has recently won the Change the World Competitions both in the Fall of 2007 and Spring of 2008 for her efforts in designing an affordable and effective solar water purification, and creating an antibiotic bandage made of honey (a natural antiseptic), rice, and wax paper, for use in parts of the world where individuals either cannot afford or do not have access to proper bandages.

Brent Solina

Anne is pursuing a B.S. in Bioinformatics and Molecular Biology at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Her other projects include cancer cell research with Professor George Plopper as well as bacterial cell research with Professor Cynthia Collins. Currently at Ecovative, Anne is an integral part of the Research and Development Lab team, working on improving upon our current process.

Brent Solina

Chas Mitchell is currently a junior pursuing a double B.S. degree in
Chemical Engineering and Applied Math from Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute. His past research with the Belfort group at RPI investigated
the effects of metal surfaces on amyloid protein aggregation. This
research is applicable to the design of surgical instruments and also to
a better understanding of the chemistry behind amyloid diseases such as
Alzheimer's disease. Chas was also a member of RPI's team for the
International Genetically Engineered Machines competition, where he
helped develop pigment expression in bacteria to be used as a biosensor
for water-soluble toxins.

Michael Defranco

Michael DeFranco is a junior dual majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Design, Innovation and Society at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His studies focus on the process of invention along with its affects on society. In our workshop, his skills in design and construction have been crucial in making the tools needed for the research and development at Ecovative.

Reid Collins

Reid Collins is a junior at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, majoring in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in manufacturing. He is the Engine and Drive-train Group Leader for RPI's Formula SAE team. Each school year, he helps to design and build a 420-lb open wheeled race car from the ground up for the Formula SAE Collegiate Design Series. This past year, the team placed top ten overall with a first place in the Acceleration event at the Auto Club speedway in California.
